Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
An Associate from Kendall's will contact you to set up an appointment with you and your family to complete an initial assessment. Together, we will discuss both, your likes and dislikes, any food allergies and the frequency of the service that you desire. Upon completion, we will set up a cook date. This assessment will allow Kendall's to prepare an initial menu selection tailored to meet your particular needs.
What is the difference in a Private Chef and a Personal Chef?
A personal chef is someone who has a passion for cooking and brings that love of cooking to your home and to your dinner table. A Private Chef may cook daily meals for one family. Some Private Chefs live with the family. A Personal Chef cooks for many clients, usually one per day. Multiple meals are prepared and packaged for consumption as needed.
Why do I need a personal chef?
Would you enjoy coming home from a stressful, busy day to a delicious dinner awaiting your arrival? Are fresh, nutritious foods that support a healthy lifestyle a priority? Would you like more time with your family, and less time at the grocery store, and in meal preparation? Are you tired of high fat, high-carb fast food, take-out, and eating out?
Can you cook my food and deliver it to me?
In California, Health Department regulations require that foods to be resold are prepared either in a commercial kitchen or in the client's home. By cooking in your kitchen we're preparing your food in the same environment that you use when cooking for yourself and your family. As a result, you can be assured that your meals are of the highest quality.
How long will you be cooking in my kitchen?
This time will vary depending on that day's menu. We may be there anywhere from 3-6 hours.
Do I need to be home while you are there?
You do not need to be there. Most of our clients are at work and because we are busy cooking several things at the same time, we will need to focus on the work at hand. Your kitchen is our "office" for the day and in order for us to prepare your quality meals, it is helpful if we work alone.
How will my meals be packaged?
At your interview, we will discuss packaging options and portions needed for your household. A variety of packaging may be used depending on the foods that are prepared. You will be provided with heating instructions, depending on packaging, each cook date! No matter how your food is packaged, clean up is a breeze!
How do I book my own Personal Chef?
Just call or e-mail and we will schedule a time for your FREE consultation. During that time, we will complete an interview on your likes/dislikes, food allergies and specific needs you have regarding your diet. You will be provided an extensive menu from which you will choose your entrees. We will also "interview" your kitchen while there too.
This sounds GREAT, but can I afford your service?
Yes, you can! Just add up the time spent planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning up, not to mention the time spent on those last minute after work trips to the market and you will realize that Kendall's is going to save you A LOT of valuable time. Now factor in the cost benefits of not throwing out the "spoiled" foods you never quite got around to cooking as well as the "menus gone wrong" that went down the drain because they just tasted awful. Do not forget the money you will save by not frequenting your local restaurants because you are just too tired to cook. Next, imagine your increased health benefits from replacing greasy take-out or delivery foods with delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals and you will realize that a Personal Chef is quite affordable.
What if my kitchen doesn't have what you need?
Not a problem. At our initial consultation we will conduct a "kitchen interview" to see what equipment, pots, pans and utensils you have. Whatever you do not have, we will bring with us. We can also discuss purchasing basic kitchen items if you wish.
I enjoy cooking but do not always have the time. Can I use your service on a part-time basis?
Certainly! We can schedule cook dates to fit your own needs and schedule.
I am on a diet... how can you help?
Kendall's has a large number of items on our menu that are healthy, low-fat selections. If you are on a special diet, we will accommodate and prepare entrees to fit your specific needs. If your doctor has prescribed, a new diet and you need help adapting your current eating habits. Some special diets may require a $70 menu research and development fee.
